On May 22, Dongfeng Automobile announced today that Dongfeng L8 new flagship plug-in hybrid SUV will be launched in the middle of this year. Judging from the official pictures, the front face of this new car adopts a family design language and is equipped with through-type headlights. The side of the body does not adopt the currently popular hidden door handle design, but a semi-hidden design. The tail light group design echoes the front face. As a strategic product of Dongfeng Automobile in 2025, L8 is positioned as a medium and large luxury SUV, with a body length expected to exceed 5 meters, and adopts a new "star dome" design language. The front face is equipped with a through-type LED light group and a luminous LOGO, the side hidden door handles are matched with 22-inch cyclone wheels, and the rear adopts a cross-border style fastback shape. The official interior pictures show that it is equipped with a combination of a 16.2-inch floating central control screen + a 12.3-inch co-pilot entertainment screen. The seats are made of Nappa leather and support 16-way electric adjustment.
The new car will provide two versions: plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and extended-range (EREV):
The PHEV version is equipped with a 1.5T high thermal efficiency engine + dual motors, with a total power of 476 horsepower and a pure electric range of 180km (CLTC)
The EREV version uses CATL's new generation Kirin battery, with a comprehensive range of over 1,200km. The entire series is equipped with a L3 autonomous driving system as standard, including 5 millimeter-wave radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors, supporting high-speed NOA and automatic parking functions.
The Dongfeng L8 car is expected to be priced between 350,000 and 450,000 yuan, and direct competitors include Ideal L8, Wenjie M9 and other models. Dongfeng Automobile Marketing Manager revealed that L8 will focus on the elite family market in first- and second-tier cities, and the first batch of car owners can enjoy free lifetime maintenance and battery warranty services. According to internal test data, its fuel consumption when the battery is depleted is only 5.8L/100km, which is 15% lower than that of the same level of models.
Dongfeng L8 automobile has started mass production in Xiangyang Factory, China, with pre-sale starting on June 15 and official delivery in late July. From now on, 200 experience stores across the country accept blind orders, and a deposit of 5,000 yuan can be used to offset the purchase price of 15,000 yuan.
