On June 5, 2025, Xpeng Auto and Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Automotive Solutions jointly announced the official release of the world's first "light-chasing panoramic" head-up display system that integrates "Huawei optical technology base + Xpeng full-scene software ecosystem". This technology will be first installed on the Xpeng G7 model as a core configuration, and the new generation P7, a 300,000 yuan luxury sports coupe scheduled to be mass-produced in the third quarter of this year, will also be adapted simultaneously.
Optical imaging revolution
Using Huawei's self-developed LCoS light engine, combined with dual-focal plane oblique projection technology, it achieves 12000nit ultra-high brightness and 10 meters equivalent projection distance, completely solving the three major problems of "unclear, dizzy, and blocked vision" in traditional AR-HUD.
Scenario-based interactive innovation
Xpeng's three major functional scenarios developed based on its self-developed Xmart OS were exposed for the first time:
Lane-level light carpet navigation: AR lane guidance covering roads across the country, accurately adapting to complex scenarios such as roundabouts and construction lane changes;
Intelligent driving visualization: ADAS information is seamlessly integrated with real-life roads, and obstacle prompt response delay is less than 50ms;
Multimodal interaction: supports voice + gesture + eye tracking triple control;
Human factors engineering optimization
Through real-time calibration of 3D OCC algorithm and vehicle posture, it ensures display stability on bumpy roads, and pioneers automatic height adjustment function to adapt to drivers of different heights.
This cooperation has created a new supply chain model of "Huawei Tier 2 hardware empowerment + Tier 1 manufacturer integration + car company software definition". Huawei provides a complete solution including optical devices, imaging modules and composition algorithms, while Xpeng leads HMI design and vehicle-machine data fusion. It is revealed that the technology has applied for 217 patents, of which 67 involve core optical architecture.
Xpeng G7 is the first model of Xpeng Auto AR-HUD driving. Xpeng G7 will start pre-sale this month. Its AR-HUD display area reaches 15°×5°, supporting 4K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The subsequent Xpeng Kunpeng Super Hybrid Large SUV (codenamed G01) will also continue this configuration. Wang Jun, President of Huawei Intelligent Automotive Solutions BU, said: "This is only the first chapter of the cooperation between the two parties. A holographic projection HUD will also be launched in 2026."
