On October 21, FAW Hongqi announced the official launch of the 2025 E-QM5 "Era Battery Swap Edition." With a CLTC range of 500 kilometers, the new model is primarily targeted at the ride-hailing market, but will also be sold to individual consumers. Its official suggested retail price is RMB 89,800 (excluding battery).
The Hongqi E-QM5 Era Battery Swap Edition maintains the family-style design of the 2025 E-QM5. Compared to the 2024 model, the vertical chrome stripe in the closed front grille has been removed, resulting in a simpler overall design. The side panels feature traditional door handles and 17-inch aluminum alloy/steel wheels with 225/55 R17 tires. The rear retains the iconic L-shaped taillight cluster.
The new car measures 5040 mm in length, 1910 mm in width, and 1569 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2990 mm. Its dimensions surpass those of most models in its class, paving the way for spacious rear-seat space.
The Era Battery Swap Edition features a three-spoke steering wheel and a floating central control screen. Notably, the traditional shift lever in the instrument panel has been replaced with a hand-operated shift lever. This change frees up more space in the center console and adds dual cup holders for enhanced practicality.
In terms of features, the model offers practical features such as delayed headlight off, remote unlocking via a mobile app, rain-sensing wipers, rear air vents, automatic headlights, and cruise control. The interior is a mix of imitation leather and fabric.
The Era Battery Swap Edition is equipped with a single front-mounted electric motor, producing a maximum power of 110 kW and a peak torque of 205 Nm. The new vehicle is equipped with a 56 kWh swappable lithium iron phosphate battery pack, with a range of 500 km under CLTC conditions.
The newly added Era Battery Swap Edition clearly targets the ride-hailing market. The 56 kWh battery pack and 500 km range are well-suited to meet the daily operational needs of ride-hailing drivers.
In terms of configuration, the Era Battery Swap Edition is similar to the next-highest-end 500KM Travel Edition. However, unlike the top-of-the-line 610KM PLUS Edition, it lacks advanced driver assistance features such as forward collision warning, active braking, and rear parking sensors. This configuration clearly reflects its product positioning in the ride-hailing market.
Compared to the other 2025 E-QM5 versions launched on May 30th, which started at RMB 121,800, the Hongqi E-QM5 Era Battery Swap Edition, priced at RMB 89,800 (excluding battery), further lowers the entry barrier and offers a more cost-effective option for ride-hailing drivers and budget-conscious users.
