On November 13th, at the 2025 World Power Battery Conference, Dongfeng Motor showcased its new generation of high-energy-density solid-state batteries and Mach-speed ultra-1000V pure electric platform, along with several self-developed new energy vehicle models, comprehensively demonstrating its innovative achievements and strategic layout in the new energy field. Dongfeng Motor stated that a 0.2GWh solid-state battery pilot production line has been built and put into operation, and it is expected that the 350Wh/kg solid-state battery will enter mass production and be applied to vehicles in September 2026, contributing to a vehicle range of 1000km.

1. Core Battery Technology

The 350Wh/kg solid-state battery launched by Dongfeng Motor this time has an energy density far exceeding the current ceiling level of approximately 250Wh/kg for liquid lithium batteries. In practical applications, this means that electric vehicles equipped with this battery will easily achieve a range exceeding 1000 kilometers, maintaining over 72% range even in low-temperature winter conditions, far surpassing the 60% level of ordinary liquid ternary batteries.

Regarding safety performance, the battery successfully passed the 170℃ hot box safety test, significantly exceeding the national standard requirement of 130℃. It also demonstrated excellent safety characteristics in extreme tests such as puncture and compression, providing consumers with stronger protection.

2. Supporting Technologies

The Mach-level ultra-1000V pure electric platform, launched simultaneously with the solid-state battery, constitutes Dongfeng's technological powerhouse. This platform adopts a 1200V ultra-high voltage architecture, equipped with Dongfeng's self-developed 1700V silicon carbide power module, combined with 12C supercharging composite cells and a single-gun 2MW charging pile, enabling a charging experience of "2.5 kilometers of charging in 1 second and 450 kilometers of replenishment in 5 minutes." This replenishment speed surpasses the convenience of refueling traditional gasoline vehicles; users only need a short rest at a service area to replenish most of the battery.

3. R&D Layout

Dongfeng Motor's breakthrough in solid-state batteries is built on entirely independent R&D. From material systems and cell structures to manufacturing processes, Dongfeng has built a complete, self-controllable supply chain system, mastering core technologies such as electrolytes, separators, and in-situ curing. This full-chain technology control gives Dongfeng full autonomy in the evolution of battery technology.

Technology R&D began in 2018 with the establishment of the solid-state battery project team. After years of accumulation, a 0.2GWh solid-state battery pilot line has been built and put into use. Dongfeng has also laid out a three-generation solid-state battery technology roadmap, demonstrating a systematic long-term plan. In addition to the soon-to-be-mass-produced 350Wh/kg battery, Dongfeng will also develop a fast-charging 350Wh/kg all-solid-state battery, planned for pilot application in December 2027. Simultaneously, pre-research work has been carried out on a sulfide all-solid-state battery with an energy density of 500Wh/kg.

4. Industry Impact

The mass production and application of solid-state batteries in vehicles will fundamentally change the user experience of electric vehicles. A practical range of 1000 kilometers means months of uninterrupted urban commuting and no need for recharging during intercity trips; its excellent performance even in extremely cold environments solves the winter driving concerns of users in northern regions; and its rapid recharging speed eliminates users' "range anxiety."

With Dongfeng's 350Wh/kg solid-state battery set to enter mass production and be deployed in vehicles next September, along with the application of its supporting ultra-1000V platform technology, the new energy vehicle industry is ushering in a new turning point.
