Under the policy background of the latest "Catalogue of New Energy Vehicle Models with Vehicle Purchase Tax Reduction and Exemption" of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, Chang'an Automobile announced that the fourth-generation Eado will be officially mass-produced on July 31, 2025. This national family sedan, with cumulative sales exceeding 1.7 million units, has simultaneously launched a fuel version and a plug-in hybrid version of the dual-power model for the first time, marking Chang'an's key move in the new energy transformation.

Model design

The new car adopts a slender through-type light group design, and the logo position is moved up to the inside of the light group to form a visual focus. The body size is 4785×1840×1440-1460mm (wheelbase 2765mm), which is 15mm longer than the current model. The rear of the car continues the through-type taillights but reconstructs the internal light source, combined with the sporty surround and exhaust shape, to strengthen the youthful positioning.

Model power overview

Fuel version: Continues the new Blue Whale 1.5T engine, with a maximum power of 141kW, which is the same as the current model;

Plug-in hybrid version: Equipped with a 1.5L plug-in hybrid system (engine 72kW) + Yiwei power battery pack, it can enjoy the purchase tax exemption policy;

Policy dividends and market positioning

As a strategic product after the implementation of the new regulations of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's "New Energy Vehicle Model Catalog", the plug-in hybrid version will benefit from vehicle and vessel tax exemptions and purchase tax incentives. The launch of this model not only continues the advantages of the Eado series's 12-year three-generation iteration of fuel vehicles, but also responds to the trend of a surge in the domestic new energy market share since 2024.

Industry Observation

Since its launch in 2012, the Chang'an Eado series has served more than 1.7 million household users. The dual-power layout of the fourth-generation model is not only a precise match with the technical requirements of the multiple batches of new energy product catalogs of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, but also shows the typical path for the traditional fuel vehicle benchmark to penetrate into the new energy field. As the mass production node approaches, its plug-in hybrid version is worth looking forward to in the market segment.
