On September 28, 2025, smart officially launched pre-orders for its first plug-in hybrid SUV, the Jingling #5 EHD, starting at 189,900 RMB. The vehicle is scheduled to be released in October. Designed by the Mercedes-Benz global design team, the Jingling #5 EHD features EHD super hybrid technology, achieving a CLTC combined range of 1615km, a pure electric range of 252km, and a fuel consumption of only 4.4L/100km in hybrid mode. It is poised to be a key player in the luxury plug-in hybrid SUV market.
Equipped with a 1.5TD EVO hybrid-specific engine (47.26% thermal efficiency) and a 200kW electric motor, paired with a 3DHT three-speed transmission, it supports 92-octane gasoline and achieves a fuel-to-electricity conversion rate of 3.75kWh/L.
The 41.46kWh CATL battery pack supports fast charging from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes, with a WLTC pure electric range of 208km, sufficient for daily commuting.
The CLTC combined range is 1615km, with zero performance degradation in hybrid mode. At high speeds, the engine and electric motor work in parallel, delivering a total system power of 320kW.
New exterior colors include Crag Gray and Starry Blue. It retains the capsule-shaped design of the electric version, featuring 19-inch alloy wheels and hidden door handles, with a drag coefficient optimized to 0.28Cd.
A LiDAR module integrated into the roof suggests advanced autonomous driving capabilities (supporting NSP Pro navigation assist).
Features a 25.6-inch AR-HUD and dual 13-inch OLED screens. The front passenger seat offers a zero-gravity design with heating, ventilation, and massage functions.
A Sennheiser 7.1.4 sound system, Nappa leather seats, and 170dB of acoustic insulation ensure NVH performance comparable to pure electric vehicles. Equipped with the smart Pilot Assist intelligent driver assistance system, featuring dual NVIDIA DRIVE Orinx AI chips and a LiDAR sensor, it supports map-less high-speed intelligent navigation, lane-keeping assist, and map-less urban navigation.
Price Advantage: Compared to the all-electric version (starting at 239,900 RMB), the plug-in hybrid version is priced from 189,900 RMB, directly targeting competitors like the BYD Tang DM-p and LYNK&CO 08 EM-P.
Usage Scenarios: A 252km all-electric range supports 5 days of daily commuting; the combined range caters to long-distance travel; and the external power output function expands its use to outdoor activities like camping.
According to the 371st batch announcement from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Jingling #5 EHD has dimensions of 4705×1920×1710mm, a wheelbase of 2900mm, and a curb weight of 1980kg. The energy consumption label indicates 14.2 kWh/100km. A 99 RMB deposit can be used to offset 1000 RMB of the final payment. The first batch of vehicles will be delivered in October.
