On May 20, 2025, BYD Automobile's high-end new energy brand Formula Leopard announced that it had delivered its 100,000th vehicle, and ranked among the top 3 new power brands in terms of delivery speed in just 18 months. This achievement marks a new height in the market recognition of China's hard-core new energy vehicles, and also confirms BYD's technological leadership in the segment.

1. From zero to 100,000: the breakthrough of hard-core new energy

The dual-car strategy has shown results: the main model Leopard 5 has accumulated sales of more than 57,000 units, and has won the new energy hard-core off-road sales champion for 5 consecutive months; the flagship model Leopard 8 has delivered more than 10,000 vehicles in 60 days after its launch, setting a record for the delivery speed of domestic high-end hard-core SUVs.

Technology-driven growth: The combination of the DMO super hybrid off-road platform and the Yunniang-P intelligent hydraulic system solves the pain points of high fuel consumption and low comfort of traditional hard-core models. The power-feed fuel consumption is as low as 7.8L/100km while maintaining a wheel-end torque of over 8000N·m.

User co-creation model: Through "Off-road Academy" training and outdoor ecological cooperation, a closed loop of "performance + life" scenarios is built, and monthly sales in December 2024 will exceed 11,000 units for the first time.

2. Market layout: Ambition from China to the world

Price anchored in the middle and high-end: The average transaction price of Leopard 8 is 330,000 yuan, forming a "Huwawei Series 998" high-end SUV top three pattern with Lixiang L9 and Wenjie M9.

Rapid channel expansion: Adopting the dual mode of direct sales + dealers, the service outlets have expanded from 185 to more than 300 within a year, covering the core areas of off-road culture in the northwest and southwest.

Internationalization preparation: Parent company BYD and Uber reached a global deployment agreement of 100,000 electric vehicles, laying the foundation for Formula Leopard's subsequent overseas expansion.

3. Industry significance: Redefining the standard of new energy off-road vehicles

The success of Formula Leopard has verified the technical feasibility of "electric drive off-road", and its "8=4x(1+1)" value formula (4 core technologies + luxury configuration + non-load-bearing body) has become a new benchmark in the industry.
