On May 28, 2025, Volkswagen officially released the official photos of the Black Edition special editions of ID.4 and ID.5. The new car is priced at RMB 450,000-460,000 in the UK market with a full black design and Top-Sport Plus kit as its core selling points.
Appearance: The exterior mirror housing, roof, tail logo and other parts are all blackened, and 19-inch black rims and panoramic sunroof are standard. ID.5 Black Edition continues the same design language as the coupe version. The length, width and height of ID.4 Match Pro and ID.4 Match Pro 4MOTION are 4584 mm, 1852 mm (excluding exterior mirrors) and 1634 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2771 mm; the length, width and height of ID.5 Match are 4599 mm, 1852 mm (excluding exterior mirrors) and 1618 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2771 mm.
Interior: ID.4 / ID.5 Black Edition are both equipped with Top-Sport Plus package, wrapped in ArtVelours micro-velvet fabric, equipped with integrated headrests, front sports seat massage function, and standard 12.9-inch central control screen + 30-color ambient light. It also comes standard with 12.9-inch central control screen, wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto mobile phone interconnection, mobile phone wireless charging, keyless entry, electric tailgate, 30-color ambient light and adaptive cruise control.
All three models are equipped with 77kWh battery packs, and the single-motor version has a maximum power of 286 horsepower. The ID.4 Black Edition has a range of 541 kilometers (WLTP), and the ID.5 Black Edition has a range of 549 kilometers.
The ID.5 Black Edition is only available in single-motor models, while the ID.4 Black Edition is available in single-motor and dual-motor models (ID.4 4MOTION Black Edition)
Supports intelligent configurations such as wireless CarPlay/Android Auto and adaptive cruise control.
Currently, the Volkswagen ID.4/ID.5 special edition is only sold in the UK market. The ID.4 has been introduced to the Chinese market, while the ID.5 has not yet entered the Chinese market. Volkswagen said that the black version will strengthen the personalized competitiveness of the ID series in the pure electric crossover market.
