Recently, Leapmotor Automobile will launch the C16 five-seater layout version on June 6, 2025. Combined with the 394th batch of declaration information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the new car product model is FZ6490BEVC16L, continuing the six-seater version of 4915×1905×1770mm body size and 2825mm wheelbase, but the rated passenger capacity is adjusted to 5/6 people optional, and the trunk volume is expected to increase significantly.
Space reconstruction
After canceling the third row of seats, the five-seater version will release a more flexible trunk space (refer to the 1022L volume of the six-seater version after folding down), while retaining the heating/ventilation function and 145° lying position design of the second row of independent seats. The small table behind the co-pilot and the 15.6-inch rear ceiling screen may continue to create a "mobile living room" experience.
Performance continuation
Power: Equipped with Jinhua Lingsheng Power TZ220XY008 motor, peak power 220kW, pure electric version supports 800V silicon carbide fast charging (30%-80% power in 15 minutes), and the extended-range version has a comprehensive range of 1095km.
Intelligence: Standard Qualcomm 8295 chip + laser radar, Leapmotor OS 4.0 system supports four-tone zone precision wake-up.
Differentiated design
The declaration map shows that the new car can be equipped with a variety of tire specifications from 235/55 R20 to 255/45 R21, with hidden door handles and smoked taillights, which has a stronger sense of sportiness. The interior may add new colors such as red orange, and the 256-color ambient light will enhance the sense of luxury.
The starting price of the Leapmotor C16 five-seat version is expected to be lower than that of the six-seat version (the six-seat version starts at 155,800 yuan), and it is mainly aimed at young families and individual users who pursue large space. Its "room ratio" advantage (67.2% space utilization of the six-seat version) may be further magnified, forming a staggered competition with BYD Tang EV, Lixiang L7, etc.
