August 6, 2025 – SAIC Motor Corporation Limited (SAIC) and AUDI today announced that pre-orders for the E5 Sportback, the brand's first strategic model, will officially begin on August 18. Built on the Sino-German Intelligent Digital Platform (ADP), this mid-size pure electric coupe challenges competitors like the Tesla Model 3 and NIO ET5T with its 800V high-voltage architecture, 0-60 km/h acceleration in 3.4 seconds, and a range exceeding 700km.
Renovated Exterior: The classic four-ring logo has been replaced with an illuminated "AUDI" logo. Ring-shaped LED light strips run through the front and rear of the vehicle, complementing the interstellar fluid design language and fastback styling, resulting in a drag coefficient as low as 0.23. The vehicle measures 4881×1960×1479mm, with a wheelbase of 2950mm. Electronic exterior mirrors and frameless doors enhance the futuristic feel.
Interior Redesign: A 59-inch 4K ultra-clear screen spans the center console, featuring an integrated electronic rearview mirror display. Paired with suede and wood-grain trim, it balances a sense of technology with a luxurious ambiance.
Performance: The dual-motor all-wheel drive version boasts a combined power of 579kW, 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.4 seconds, and a top speed of 205km/h. The single-motor version offers 220kW and 300kW options.
Range and Fuel Recharge: The 100kWh battery pack supports CLTC (Compliant Current Control) for a range of over 700km, while the 800V architecture delivers a 370km range with a 10-minute charge. CDC shock absorbers and air suspension are standard across the entire range, balancing sportiness and comfort.
Intelligent Driving: Equipped with 27 sensing hardware components (including LiDAR), it supports complex scenarios such as urban No-Avoidance (NOA) and unprotected left turns. Its algorithms are driven by Momenta's end-to-end large-scale model.
Interactive Experience: The Qualcomm 8295 chip powers the AUDI OS system, integrating a large-scale "Doubao" voice assistant model and supporting multimodal interaction.
According to industry analysts, if the E5 Sportback is priced between 250,000 and 350,000 RMB, it is expected to quickly break into the market thanks to the AUDI brand premium and 800V technology. Its mass production progress and terminal performance will be key benchmarks for the success of Sino-German automotive industry cooperation.
