On September 10, 2025, overseas media outlet CarBuzz captured a nearly undisguised road test of a Porsche electric Cayenne Coupe prototype. The vehicle features a fixed carbon fiber rear wing, large front air intakes, and a race-inspired body kit. Porsche insiders have confirmed that this is the final test version of the Cayenne Turbo GT, the brand's first all-electric high-performance SUV, expected to launch in 2026.
Aerodynamic Upgrades
Fixed Rear Wing: Unlike the current variable rear wing, this one-piece carbon fiber structure is the same as the Taycan Turbo GT, increasing downforce by approximately 35%.
Front Carbon Fiber Kit: The air intake area is 40% larger than the gasoline version, and it integrates active cooling flaps to balance the cooling needs of the battery pack (estimated capacity ≥100kWh) and the dual electric motors.
Electrified Signatures
The closed grille retains the Turbo GT's signature honeycomb pattern, and the charging port is hidden in the left front fender.
The 22-inch forged wheels feature a built-in carbon-ceramic brake system, and the spoke design optimizes the drag coefficient to 0.28.
Three-Electric System: Based on an upgraded version of the PPE platform, it features dual front and rear permanent magnet synchronous motors. Equipped with an output comparable to the Taycan Turbo GT's 1,019 horsepower (in overboost mode), the 0-60 sprint may exceed 2.5 seconds.
Range and Fuel Recharge: The 800V high-voltage architecture supports 350kW fast charging, resulting in an estimated WLTP range of 520-580 kilometers. The battery pack utilizes Porsche's patented "dual-stage liquid cooling" technology.
Compared to the current Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid (729 horsepower combined), the electric Turbo GT will directly compete with models like the Tesla Model X Plaid and the Lotus Eletre R+. According to the Munich R&D center, its target lap time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife is under 7 minutes and 30 seconds, a nearly 20-second improvement over the gasoline-powered model.
This announcement confirms Porsche's plan to achieve 50% electrification by 2025. The launch of the electric Cayenne Turbo GT marks the full embrace of the high-performance electric era by its SUV lineup. The Macan EV and the all-electric 911 will subsequently share this powertrain architecture.
