Leapmotor Automotive officially announced that pre-orders for its all-new pure electric compact car, the Lafa 5, will begin at 7:00 PM on November 7th. Positioned as a "high-end sports coupe," the new model represents a new product line separate from the B and C series. The model is scheduled to be officially launched at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November, with deliveries beginning in the fourth quarter of the Chinese market. The higher-performance Ultra version is expected to begin deliveries in the first half of 2026. With its dynamic styling and personalized color schemes, this hatchback aims to become a new trendsetter for urban youth and will compete with models such as the VW ID.3 and MG MG4.
The Lafa 5 features a European-style hatchback design. Its length, width, and height are 4430mm, width, and height are 1880mm, and height is 1520mm. Its wheelbase is 2735mm, and its 50:50 axle-to-axle ratio ensures excellent handling and stability. The front fascia features an AGS active air intake grille, a front lip, and air curtains, effectively optimizing aerodynamics. Frameless doors, 19-inch swept-wing sports wheels, and a sports car-style diffuser further enhance the vehicle's sporty presence. Six customizable paint options are available, including exclusive colors: Electric Yellow and Wind Gray, as well as Starry Night Blue, Morgan Pink, Galaxy Silver, and Metallic Black. Electric Yellow and Wind Gray are considered the star colors.
In the interior, the Lafa 5 series features matte blackened gunmetal gray chrome trim, enhanced by soft-touch materials. The center console features a floating full LCD instrument panel and a floating large central control screen.
The intelligent cockpit system is expected to feature an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 14.6-inch 2.5K HD central control screen. It will be powered by Leapmotor OS 4.0 Plus, integrating dual AI intelligent models to support continuous voice conversation and dialect recognition. The in-car chipset varies depending on the configuration: mid-range and low-end models use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155, while the top-of-the-line model features the more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295.
The Lafa 5 offers two motor configurations: high- and low-power. The high-power version boasts a maximum output of 160 kilowatts and a top speed of 170 km/h; the low-power version boasts a maximum motor output of 132 kilowatts and a top speed of 160 km/h.
The Leapmotor Lafa 5 is equipped with two sizes of lithium iron phosphate batteries: 56.2 kWh and 67.1 kWh, respectively. These batteries offer a pure electric range of 515 km and 605 km, respectively, meeting the diverse needs of daily commuting and intercity travel.
In terms of intelligent driving, the high-end Lafa 5 is equipped with a lidar sensor located on the top of the windshield, signaling its advanced intelligent assisted driving capabilities. The vehicle is built based on the new LEAP 3.5 technology architecture. It is not only equipped with a high-computing power chip, but is also expected to provide comfortable and convenient configurations such as 360-degree panoramic imaging, wireless charging for mobile phones in the front row, electric adjustment of the driver and front passenger seats, seat heating and ventilation, and multi-color interior ambient lighting.
