BYD Han L wind tunnel test details revealed: Cd 0.212 refreshes C+ class car wind resistance record

On May 9, 2025, BYD officially announced the full process of Han L wind tunnel testing. Its drag coefficient (Cd) dropped to 0.212, setting a new benchmark for C+ class car wind resistance performance, verifying the compatibility of large space design and ultra-low energy consumption.

BYD Han L wind tunnel Cd value is 0.212

1. Wind tunnel testing and design optimization ‌

Test details disclosed ‌

Han L completed more than 200 hours of wind tunnel testing in the aerodynamic laboratory, using laser engraving technology to optimize the body surface, and reducing airflow interference through active air intake grilles, hidden door handles and other designs, and reducing the pressure difference in key parts by 15%.

Comparative advantages in the same class ‌

The value of Cd 0.212 is more than 15% lower than that of traditional C+ class cars, which can achieve a 5%-8% increase in cruising range and a 3dB reduction in wind noise at high speeds.

2. Technical highlights and performance improvement

Low wind resistance core technology

The rear of the car adopts a two-stage ducktail spoiler design to optimize the airflow separation point;

The chassis flatness is increased to 98%, and it is equipped with an air suspension that automatically adjusts the ground clearance.

Breakthrough in energy consumption and quietness

The low wind resistance design is combined with the Blade Battery 2.0 technology. The CLTC operating range exceeds 800km, and the noise inside the car is only 64 decibels at a speed of 120km/h, reaching the quietness standard of luxury D-class cars.

3. User value and market positioning

Han L is positioned as a "flagship sedan popularizer". The new car is based on BYD's new Super e platform technology, equipped with a new generation of blade batteries, megawatt flash charging, and 1000V throughout the range. The length, width and height of Han L are 5050/1960/1505mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2970mm. , through wind resistance optimization to achieve "long battery life without relying on stack batteries" technical breakthrough, to meet the dual needs of young users for performance and practicality. BYD official data shows that the car's sales exceeded 10,000 in 21 days after its launch, becoming a phenomenal product in the mid-to-large new energy sedan market.
