On May 29, at the Lixiang Auto earnings call, CEO Lixiang officially confirmed that the second pure electric SUV i6 will be released in September, forming a "five-seat + six-seat" dual-car matrix with the i8 launched in July, fully covering the mainstream pure electric market of RMB 250,000-350,000. As the pure electric model with the lowest price threshold of the brand, i6 will bear the heavy responsibility of volume sales, and its mass production test mileage has exceeded 9.5 million kilometers.
Design language: Spy photos show that i6 continues the i8's "star ring light + water drop shape" design, adopts a larger angle rear window to enhance the sense of sportiness, and is expected to provide two-color body and sports wheel options;
Size positioning: As a large five-seater medium and large SUV, the wheelbase may reach 2.9 meters, which is more compact than i8 (wheelbase 3050mm);
Technical highlights: Equipped with the same 90/97kWh battery pack as i8, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shows that its top-end version has a range of 720km and supports 10 minutes of fast charging for 500km.
The launch of Lixiang i6 marks Lixiang's deep transformation from extended-range to pure electric. The car will form three major product lines with the L series extended-range car and MEGA pure electric MPV, forming a full-scene coverage for family users. Industry analysts pointed out that its pricing strategy may refer to the 250,000-350,000 yuan range of L6/L8, facing Tesla Model Y and other competitors.
Currently, Lixiang i6 has entered the final testing phase, and more configuration information is expected to be released in the summer. As the September release approaches, whether this "pure electric version of L6" can replicate the success of the extended-range series will become an important focus of the new energy market in the second half of the year.
