BYD recently announced that the 2026 SEAL 07 DM-i will officially debut at the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show on August 29th. As a redesigned model, the new model features significant upgrades in exterior design, intelligent driving, and interior features. In particular, it features a new roof-mounted LiDAR radar system, which is expected to be equipped with BYD's latest "Eye of God-B" driver assistance system.
The 2026 SEAL 07 DM-i continues the design language of the BYD Ocean Series, but features numerous refinements in details:
Front Design: The previous model's lower grille opening has been eliminated, resulting in a completely enclosed design that looks almost identical to a pure electric vehicle from a distance. The headlight profile has been redesigned, and the lower air duct has also been reshaped.
LiDAR: A new LiDAR module has been added to the roof, marking the most significant exterior change and signaling a higher level of intelligent driving capabilities.
Dimensions: Length, width, and height are 4995mm, 1900mm, and 1495mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2900mm. Compared to the current model, the vehicle is 15mm longer and 5mm wider.
Rear Design: The SEAL family's signature through-type headlight cluster is retained, while the overall design is more streamlined and simple.
According to information filed with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China and media reports, the 2026 SEAL 07 DM-i will offer two powertrain configurations:

The new BYD SEAL 07 DM-i continues to utilize BYD's signature lithium iron phosphate blade battery, achieving a 10% increase in energy recovery efficiency compared to the current model. According to sales, the 135km range version can meet the needs of users who commute 30km per week and only need to charge twice.
The 2026 SEAL 07 DM-i's interior features surprising changes:
Hand-operated shift lever design: A hand-operated shift lever is added behind the steering wheel, replacing the traditional gear lever, cleverly utilizing the freed-up center console space;
In-car refrigerator: The former gear lever position has been replaced with a two-tiered storage compartment. The upper compartment supports wireless charging for two mobile phones, and the lower compartment can accommodate a 500ml thermos cup. A new mini-fridge has been added under the center console, offering temperature control from -6°C to 50°C. It can hold four cans of Coke or two standard baby bottles.
Charging Ports: The number of Type-C ports has increased to four, with a new 60W fast-charging port added in the rear, meeting the charging needs of the entire family.
Yunni-C System: The BYD Yunni-C intelligent damping body control system is standard across the entire model, significantly enhancing driving quality and comfort.
Intelligent driving is a key upgrade in this facelift:
LiDAR Version: The top-of-the-line model is equipped with a LiDAR, enabling functions such as automatic vehicle following in urban areas and traffic light recognition. According to sales staff, the system supports autonomous driving on 90% of roads in Chengdu's urban area.
Basic Functions Retained: The base model retains Level 2 assisted driving features such as lane keeping and adaptive cruise control.
System Naming Change: The intelligent driving system has been renamed "Eye of God" and features comprehensive upgrades.
The 2026 SEAL 07 DM-i will continue to target the 150,000 RMB hybrid sedan market. Based on currently available information, its features offer significant advantages over similarly priced models:
Price Range: Expected starting price: RMB 145,800. The mid-range version with a 230km range is pre-sold for RMB 159,800. The optional LiDAR adds an additional RMB 8,000.
Pre-sale Status: According to dealers, 70% of pre-sale orders are for the mid-range version, demonstrating a balanced demand among consumers for range and features.
Competitive Comparison: Compared to similarly priced competitors, the new SEAL 07 The DM-i boasts significant advantages in intelligent configuration, space utilization, and chassis technology.
The 2026 BYD SEAL 07 DM-i further strengthens its competitiveness in the 150,000 RMB hybrid sedan market with the addition of a LiD radar, an optimized interior layout, and an upgraded intelligent driving system. Its closed front design and hand-shift gearshift also give the new car a more technologically advanced feel, typical of new energy vehicles. With the Chengdu Auto Show approaching, more details and official pricing will be announced. It remains to be seen whether this "hybrid king" can continue the market performance of the current model.
