On September 2, 2025, BMW officially announced the launch of the 2026 BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase and BMW i5 models. These facelifted models primarily feature exterior color schemes and features. The BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase is available in seven trim levels with an official suggested retail price of RMB 439,900 to RMB 525,900. The BMW i5 is available in three trim levels with an official suggested retail price of RMB 439,900 to RMB 539,900.
For the 2026 model year, "Sapphire Blue" paint has been added to the entire lineup, while the "Aventurine Red" paint option has been removed. The 5 Series 530Li Premium and i5 xDrive50L models have had their matte gray paint option, previously costing 8,000 RMB, become standard, and the Night Package has also been upgraded to standard (including customizable black high-gloss trim). The vehicles retain their signature double-kidney grille design and feature a single-piece floating curved display (12.3-inch instrument cluster + 14.9-inch central control screen).
In terms of configuration, keyless entry (including Digital Key Plus) has been made standard on the 2026 5 Series Long Wheelbase and all i5 models, moving from an option. The Comfort Package is no longer available on both 5 Series 525Li trims and the i5 eDrive35L M Sport Package, but the Smart Parking Assist Pro package has been added as an option (costing 6,900 RMB). The Bowers & Wilkins audio system is no longer an option, and the Harman/Kardon audio system is now available as a standalone option for 6,000 RMB. Additionally, the AR navigation feature is no longer available on all 2026 models.
In terms of powertrain, the 2026 5 Series Long Wheelbase and i5 remain the same as the previous models.
The 5 Series Long Wheelbase continues to offer two powertrain levels: the 525Li and 530Li.
The 525Li is equipped with a low-power 2.0T engine (140kW/310Nm), accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 8.2 seconds.
The 530Li is equipped with a high-power 2.0T engine (190kW/400Nm), accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds (6.8 seconds for all-wheel drive).
All models are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the 530Li offers xDrive all-wheel drive.
The BMW i5 is available in three powertrain options:
eDrive35L: Single motor, rear-wheel drive (200kW/410Nm), CLTC range: 618km;
eDrive40L: Single motor, rear-wheel drive (240kW/410Nm), CLTC range: 713km;
xDrive50L: Dual motor, all-wheel drive (385kW/775Nm), 0-100km/h acceleration: 4.2 seconds, CLTC range: 651km.

With this facelift, the Luxury Package has been discontinued for the 5 Series 530Li xDrive and all i5 models, while prices for other configurations remain unchanged. The BMW i5 has also received the "Level 1 Low Carbon Label" for road vehicles and a five-star safety rating from C-NCAP, becoming the first mid-to-large luxury sedan to achieve both five-star certifications.
