On September 25, 2025, at 7:00 PM, BYD officially launched the 2025 second-generation Qin PLUS series, reshaping the compact new energy vehicle market with a starting price of 79,800 yuan. The launch includes three models: the DM-i 128km version (79,800 yuan), the EV 420km version (89,800 yuan), and the EV 510km version (99,800 yuan). All models feature standard fast-charging technology, with the DM-i version offering 15kW fast-charging for the first time. The new model continues the transparent "configuration-based naming" strategy, offering both DM-i and EV options to precisely meet diverse user needs.
Second-generation Qin PLUS DM-i: 128km version - 79,800 yuan
Second-generation Qin PLUS EV: 420km version - 89,800 yuan; 510km version - 99,800 yuan
DM-i version: Equipped with the fifth-generation DM technology, the 1.5L engine achieves a thermal efficiency of 46.06%, paired with a 120kW front-mounted electric motor. NEDC fuel consumption is as low as 2.69L/100km (after OTA update), and CLTC pure electric range is 128km, with a combined range of 2055km.
EV version: Features a 100kW front-mounted electric motor and a 48kWh/57.6kWh lithium iron phosphate blade battery pack, supporting 60kW/70kW fast charging. CLTC range is 420km/510km, and 30-80% fast charging can be achieved in 30 minutes.
The EV version features a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link independent rear suspension, improving ride comfort compared to the DM-i version's torsion beam rear suspension. The wheelbase remains 2718mm across the entire lineup, with 880mm of rear legroom and 450L of trunk space (expandable to 1500L).
The entry-level trim level omits the DiPilot 100 advanced driver-assistance system, but retains basic features like cruise control, NFC key, and the VTOL mobile power station. The center console features an 8.8-inch floating instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch rotating screen (DiLink 100 system) with smart voice interaction.
Exterior: A new "Starlight Beige" color option is added. The headlights feature integrated vertical daytime running lights. The DM-i version retains the mesh grille, while the EV version has a closed front fascia. A signature "Chinese knot" LED taillight is standard across the lineup.
Interior: The shift-by-wire design frees up space in the center console, which now includes dual wireless phone charging pads and polygonal air vents. The EV version's multi-link rear suspension enhances ride quality.
As a benchmark for "affordable technology," the BYD Qin Plus addresses three key user needs: urban commuters (EV version costs about 0.06 yuan per kilometer to operate), ride-hailing drivers (DM-i version offers overall cost advantages), and first-time car buyers (balancing space and reliability). Compared to competitors, it's priced 15,000 yuan lower than the Geely Galaxy Xingyao 6 and saves over 40% on operating costs compared to a comparable gasoline-powered vehicle (like the Nissan Sylphy). BYD data shows that the current Qin PLUS has sold over 2.4 million units. This facelift, through cost-cutting measures, aims to further expand market share.
