On May 14, 2025, Toyota officially released the bZ4X facelift model in North America. The new car was renamed "Toyota bZ" and was fully upgraded in terms of appearance, performance and battery life, trying to reverse the market controversy of the old model.
Performance Leap
The total power of the four-wheel drive version reaches 338 horsepower, and the zero-to-hundred acceleration enters the 5-second level (4.9 seconds to 96km/h), which is nearly 1 second faster than the old model;
The front-wheel drive version has a single motor output of 221 horsepower, and the basic version has 168 horsepower;
The X-Mode four-wheel drive system is retained, and the traction on slippery roads is optimized.
Battery Life and Battery
The top-equipped 74.7kWh battery has a WLTP battery life of 505km, which is 25% higher than the old model;
A new 57.7kWh basic version has a battery life of 380km;
The charging power is upgraded to 22kW, supporting battery pretreatment technology.
Design and configuration
The exterior features split LED headlights, blackened wheels and a sporty front bumper;
The interior is equipped with a 14-inch central control screen + dual wireless charging, and 64-color ambient lighting as standard;
Added shift paddles to adjust the kinetic energy recovery intensity.
Market challenges
Although the power has been significantly improved, it is still conservative compared to domestic competitors (such as BYD Tang EV 4.4 seconds, NIO ES6 3.9 seconds). There is a gap between the fast charging power of 22kW and the domestic 120kW, and the endurance performance in severe cold still needs to be verified.
