As the first plug-in hybrid model from the smart brand, the smart #5 EHD will open for pre-orders on September 28th. The new model features an EHD super hybrid system combining a 1.5T engine and an electric motor, offering two versions: a standard version (100km pure electric range) and a long-range version (252km CLTC pure electric range). Its combined CLTC range exceeds 1600km, and fuel consumption is as low as 4.4L/100km, directly targeting competitors such as the BYD Tang DM-p and the Leapmotor L3. For price reference, the current all-electric version starts at 239,900 RMB.
Enhanced Crossover Aesthetics: Continuing the "Sensual-Dynamic" design language of the all-electric version, a new "Stardust Blue" color option is added. The front bumper vents are redesigned, and a LiDAR module is integrated into the roof, supporting high-speed and urban driving assistance.
Superior Space Utilization: Vehicle dimensions are 4705×1920×1710mm (2900mm wheelbase), achieving an 85% space utilization rate. The trunk capacity is 520-1560L, and the second-row seats offer adjustable backrests and extendable seat cushions.
Dual Powertrain Configurations:
Standard Version: 20kWh battery + 1.5T hybrid, 100km pure electric range (specific test cycle not specified);
Long-Range Version: 40kWh lithium iron phosphate battery (CATL), 252km CLTC pure electric range, 1600km combined range.
Performance Parameters: 1.5T engine maximum power 120kW, electric motor 204kW, combined power 324kW, 0-100km/h acceleration estimated at 5.9 seconds.
The interior features a 25.6-inch AR-HUD, a 13-inch 2.5K OLED dual-screen display, and a 20-speaker Sennheiser sound system, along with the smart Pilot Assist 3.0 intelligent driving system. The pre-sale price range is expected to be between 230,000 and 280,000 yuan, filling a gap in the 200,000 yuan price segment for plug-in hybrid SUVs in the smart brand's lineup.
The pre-sale details will be announced on September 28, with the official launch scheduled for October. Compared to its competitors, its advantages lie in the Mercedes-Benz design aesthetic, class-leading all-electric range, and advanced smart features; however, it will face competition from BYD's established reputation for plug-in hybrid technology.
